2005 — The Folk Directory launched in June 2005 with just over 160 entries.
2006 — Site grew to 400+ listings and over 1000 unique monthly visits. Received Arts Council funding.
2010 — Disaster! Web address squatted and backup hard disk failure.
2011 — Site remade.
2018 — Site quietly slipped away.
2026 — Site back! Completely remade on folkdirectory.co.uk with the preserved 2018 UK listings, an expanded set of clubs, sessions and festivals across the UK and Ireland, and a map of venues. Get in touch with thoughts, feedback and comments.
Sources — Gathered from other folk directories (see Links), venue websites and social pages, and from organisers and folkies & friends who send in updates. Organisers can also claim their listing from the event page. We check listings periodically, and we are working on a more reliable way of confirming that nights are still running so you can tell which entries have been looked at recently.
