Festival

We are a small 3-day festival based in a rural location on the Isle of Wight. FolkStation features music, song and dance as its programme offering a great family friendly and relaxed festival with great camping and something for everyone to enjoy. We endeavour to provide a wide range of folk music from traditional to contemporary. We provide a full range of on-site facilities including car parking, food, a real ale bar, local craft, 2 sound stages, a club tent and a range of entertainments for children as well. ...

New to the directory this year. The festival has been around since 2019, as far as is known, but the pandemic meant it disappeared for a couple of years before returning in 2023. It describes itself as a folk-rock festival and has featured well-known names at previous events.

New to us. It replaces the Towersey Festival Describes itself as a micro festival. A festival of discovery with music, dance, arts, crafts and wellness. Head turners from the world of Americana, Folk, Country, Blues, World and Roots Music. A festival with space to breathe and relax, to discover and learn, to create and share. Your first and forever festival, inspiring the best you.

A new one for our lists. It will bring established artists in the Folk, World and Roots scene to perform alongside new and emerging acts, both locally and from around the country. Not only will the festival have some of Scotland�s finest artists, it will showcase some of the best acts from the rest of the UK and overseas.

The evening will see the multi-talented Rosie Davis calling to music provided by the Horsmonden Traditional Music Class and friends, with songs from a variety of invited guests and the odd party game. The event takes place in the Bell & Jorrocks function room, and formal attire is encouraged (but optional). Earlier in the day, the usual Frittenden-style traditional, old-fashioned and entertaining session takes place in the bar, followed by a mixed session and concert on the theme of Sea, Ships and Sailors with weekend guests, who include Frittenden regulars Andy Turner, Annie Dearman and Steve Harrison, and sea-song specialist Chris Roche. Rosie will also contribute a Sailor’s Hornpipe. ...

I suppose this counts as American folk music, sort of. ? Friends of American Old-Time Music and Dance (FOAOTMAD for short!) was founded in 1993 with the aim of furthering the promotion and performance of traditional old-time music and dance in the UK. We organise regular music camps, residential workshops, dance parties and support for many other formal and informal old-time events.
