Beverley Festival is known for its innovative and eclectic mix of dance, comedy, literature, poetry and music, bringing a friendly and relaxed atmosphere to the historic East Yorkshire town.

There has been a folk festival in the market town of Beverley every year since 1983, hosting performances by hundreds of artists, helping to create the flourishing live music scene in the town, and putting the town very much on the map.

Groups and ensembles from the UK and worldwide perform traditional and contemporary music, song, and dance in colourful costumes. Arena and theatre concerts, street performance, and special events take place at various venues in Billingham, Middlesbrough, and Newcastle over the eight-day festival. The festival includes workshops, dance courses, and children’s club activities. Billingham Town Centre was developed in the early 1960s by Billingham Urban District Council as one of the first traffic-free shopping precincts in the UK. It has hosted this festival of fun and friendship each year since 1965, bringing together cultures from around the world in a display of colour, music, and dance. ...

Community Project of the Year 2011 / Event of the Year 2005 (MG Alba Scots Trad Music Awards). The event features the Blazin’ Fiddles (Bruce MacGregor, Allan Henderson, Iain MacFarlane, Jenna Reid, Anna Massie and Angus Lyon) alongside Adam Sutherland, Gillian Frame, Rick Taylor and Christine Hanson (TBC), amongst others. Recently launched, Blazin’ Fiddles are a sister fiddle school to the well-established Blazin’ in Beauly. This summer the band will launch ‘Blazin’ in Biggar’, bringing together fiddlers, guitarists and piano players for a weekend of workshops and music-making.

The Bradford on Avon Green Man Festival is a family-friendly community gathering featuring traditional dance, music, song, and folklore throughout the town centre on Saturday 10 May 2025 (9.30am to 6pm). The festival is free. Over 50 dance groups, including 500 dancers and 120 musicians, perform Morris dancing and diverse European styles.
