Devizes Folk Club presents traditional and contemporary folk music and song on Monday evenings at 8pm (except August and bank holidays) in the Lamb Inn, St John’s Street, Devizes, Wiltshire. The club encourages singing, playing and performance, and has a local guest and a major guest each month. All other nights are singers’ nights.
Devoran Acoustic Sessions presents folk, roots and acoustic artists at Devoran Village Hall from autumn through to early summer. Usually monthly, but not on a set night. Devoran Village Hall is a Grade II listed building, originally built as a workshop for The Redruth and Chasewater Railway, and provides an intimate setting for live music.
GUEST NIGHTS The club aims to provide as broad a cross-section of music as possible, to highlight the range of styles that constitute traditional music. Over the past few years the club has hosted a whole host of well-known artists: John Renbourn, Last Night’s Fun, Bob Fox & Stu Luckley, Dave Burland, Eddie Walker, The Ex-Patriot Game, Jez Lowe, The Devil’s Interval, Martin Simpson, Nancy Kerr and James Fagan, Richard Durrant, Martin Carthy, Chris Moreton, Steve Tilston, Spiers and Boden (Bellowhead), Les Barker, Simon Mayor and Hilary James, Vin Garbutt, Ken Perlman, Karen Tweed & Roger Wilson and many more. This club, which began in the 1960s and ran as a cultural hub for the County Down folk scene until the turn of the millennium, has been revived and re-established within the broader community, focused on traditional and modern folk music, language, and culture in general.
The Dragon Folk Club was founded in 2016 and meets on the first and third Wednesday of the month from 8 to 10:30 pm in the upper room of the Dragon Inn, The Tything, Worcester. The club offers three song/15-minute floor spots and usually finishes the evening with an invited guest who plays a longer set.
Mixed tunes/singers session led by Phil. Participants receive a drink ticket, though supply may run low towards the end of the night. Starts around 6pm.
