Folk-Club

The Bideford Folk Club meets at the Joiner’s Arms in North Devon every Thursday.

Folk music sessions are held in Bingham, a market town in Nottinghamshire. There is no formal membership procedure. Performing and non-performing visitors are welcome.

September 2010 saw the club begin its 47th continuous season as a centre of folk music in Birmingham. Over 46 years of running, the club has been in 17 different venues and had numerous club names. It has booked in the region of 1,121 guests, and around 77,000 audience members have attended.

York’s premier folk music venue, presenting local, national and international guest artists in an atmospheric oak-panelled room in the historic Black Swan Inn. Singers Nights are held once a month, and the club also presents seven or eight concerts a year at the nearby National Centre for Early Music, as well as organising an annual free Folk Weekend at the Black Swan. The club is an open mic meeting every Tuesday at the British Oak pub, Old Dover Road, Blackheath. It is more of an acoustic than a pure folk club; recent sessions have included virtually every musical genre. The club has a 300-watt Yamaha PA system with 2 mics and 4 other inputs. If more inputs are needed, a Behringer mixer can be made available with prior notice. The space is relatively limited and a four-piece band is probably the optimum. ...
