The Bradninch Acoustic Music Club meets on the second Wednesday of each month at St Disens Hall in Bradninch.

The club was founded in April 2009 by Colin Wilson and Jerry Cahill to provide a platform for young and up-and-coming artists to hone their performance skills in a concert-style atmosphere and to try out new songs and instrumentals, as well as to enjoy a musical night out.

WHAT TYPE OF MUSIC

The club welcomes all genres of music so long as it can be performed acoustically, although the odd exception has been made for instruments with low sound projection. Both Colin and Jerry are guitar teachers, and Colin also runs guitar workshops covering vocal and performance skills, so there is always plenty of help and support for those who have never performed in front of an audience before.

GUEST ARTISTS

The club often features guest performers on alternative months, drawing from local, national, and international artists in order to raise funds and provide ticket concessions to regular club-goers, small bursaries, and concert promotions.

The club has hosted a diverse range of performers at a high standard. This coming year the club will be raising funds for a project called “Young Voices in Music,” providing a showcase on a large stage for young musicians in Devon.

WHAT TIME

Doors open at 7:45 pm. Admission is £1.50 (including musicians) and £2.50 concession tickets for guest appearances. There is no alcohol licence, so attendees are asked to bring their own drink, although the club serves tea, coffee, and biscuits during the break. Local musicians’ CDs are actively promoted, along with other club news.
