An exciting weekend of fiddle concerts, recitals, workshops, sessions, talks and ceilidhs. Run by the Scots Fiddle Festival Ltd, the charity that promotes and sustains traditional fiddle music in Scotland.

The Scots Fiddle Festival is three days of unforgettable concerts, daytime recitals, workshops, talks, festival clubs, ceilidhs and the Fiddle Walk. There is a programme of free events including ‘Come and try fiddle’ workshops, a ‘Come and try Gaelic’ workshop, the Open Stage, all day music sessions and stalls as well a folk church service on the Sunday morning.

SECOND SATURDAYS This is where the Open Nights started ~ as an environment SECOND SATURDAYS This is where the Open Nights started ~ as an environment in which to share songs, words and music, without amplification, to provide somewhere people can perform, and to encourage them to do so. Everybody is welcome, to perform or not, as we go around the room. You can hear poems, stories, modern songs and various musics as well as folk stuff. Occasionally we also have a Visiting Performer, from ‘furrin’ parts, who we ask to do a few extra items! There is no admission charge, but we pass the pot round during the evening. The income is used to cover promotional costs and to subsidise irregular workshops on a variety of subjects - voice, song writing, instrumental, etc. ...

A Weekend of Sea Shanty’s, Maritime Songs & Music.

Most evenings at Sharps are singers’ nights, which means that anyone is welcome to volunteer to sing, play an instrument, tell a story, etc. Evenings are run by a rota of MCs who call on the singers and musicians to perform in turn. About once a month a guest artist is booked.
