Groups and ensembles from the UK and worldwide perform traditional and contemporary music, song, and dance in colourful costumes.

Arena and theatre concerts, street performance, and special events take place at various venues in Billingham, Middlesbrough, and Newcastle over the eight-day festival.

The festival includes workshops, dance courses, and children’s club activities.

Billingham Town Centre was developed in the early 1960s by Billingham Urban District Council as one of the first traffic-free shopping precincts in the UK. It has hosted this festival of fun and friendship each year since 1965, bringing together cultures from around the world in a display of colour, music, and dance.
