Session at the Franciscan Well, Cork.

A pub on the left when arriving at Miltown on the road from Ennis. It was Willie Clancy’s regular.

Known among musicians as one of the best sessions in the county, with fewer tourists and strong playing. Home of the Willie Clancy Summer School overflow each July.

The session is open to visiting musicians and locals. A rotating set of host musicians plays each week. Starts at 8.30.

Galway Folk Festival 2026.

A venue for trad music, consistently hosting sessions four evenings a week over the last two decades. A Thursday evening has recently been added, making it five.

It is a ‘Slow Session’ specifically set up to encourage musicians who have no group skills to participate in session playing.

Ballina’s best-regarded trad night. Musicians travel from Castlebar and Westport for the session — strong fiddle tradition, no cover.

A Wednesday-night session in a city-centre pub in Waterford that has kept its traditional character. Musicians play in a circle, with no stage.
