Blackheath Folk Club

The club is an open mic meeting every Tuesday at the British Oak pub, Old Dover Road, Blackheath. It is more of an acoustic than a pure folk club; recent sessions have included virtually every musical genre.

The club has a 300-watt Yamaha PA system with 2 mics and 4 other inputs. If more inputs are needed, a Behringer mixer can be made available with prior notice. The space is relatively limited and a four-piece band is probably the optimum.

An English music session at The Horseshoe, a traditional pub serving a number of real ales. Instruments only, no singing. Musicians welcome. A full range of food is also available.

Croydon Folk and Blues Club

The Croydon Folk and Blues Club meets every Sunday evening, usually around 8:00, at Ruskin House, 23 Coombe Road, Croydon, Surrey. Everyone is welcome, and musicians of all abilities are encouraged to have a go if they wish. The music usually starts at 8:30 with the regular sessions. An hour later there is a hotspot, which features a special guest.

Every first Friday of the month, the No Frills Band are hosting open, round the table folk sessions.

All musicians and all styles welcome. We play Irish, Welsh, English and Scottish tunes, American old time, bluegrass and western swing, Greek stuff, Turkish stuff, French tunes, Yiddish tunes, East European tunes and Scandinavian tunes, old stuff, new stuff, and probably more that I’ve forgotten. All abilities tolerated. Come and swap tunes and songs, meet people, learn stuff. Or just come and listen to the music. See you in the Grosvenor.

Rebetiko jam session

A monthly rebetiko (Greek blues) jam session is held at The Horseshoe pub (Farringdon Station) on the first Monday of every month, bringing the sounds of Athens to London.

The Rebetiko Recycled band and friends welcome participants to play, sing, dance, or simply listen to the music. Admission is free, all are welcome, and all musicians are invited to jam with the band.

Sharp's Folk Club

Most evenings at Sharps are singers’ nights, meaning anyone is welcome to volunteer to sing, play an instrument, tell a story, and so on. Evenings are run by a rota of MCs who call on the singers and musicians to perform in turn. About once a month a guest artist is booked.

The English Session

As far as we know, still the only weekly English Folk Music Session in London. Mainly traditional English Dance Tunes in sets with a few songs later on. Free buffet, usually a free drink for participants (Real Ale available). Totally acoustic. Has been known to finish quite late!

Buses 177, 180, 188, 199, 286, 386 DLR (Cutty Sark nearly opposite) and Greenwich Mainline Railway station (5 mins. You can park your car outside.

The Kalamazoo Klub · London

The Kalamazoo Klub was started sixteen years ago by two local musicians, Paul Alcantara and Guy Simpson. They had been playing in folk and acoustic clubs in London and the South East for years and decided that North London needed a music venue that would bring top quality, live acoustic artists to the area from all genres of music.

The Kalamazoo Klub has, in the years since, attracted some of the most famous names in acoustic music, from Bert Jansch who was the first artist to appear, Martin Carthy, Robin Williamson and John Kirkpatrick through to more diverse artists from the worlds of folk, celtic music, Blues, flamenco, Country and even Chinese classical music.
